Marbella Destination Guide
The perfect blend of cosmopolitan buzz, Andalusian history and idyllic scenery, Marbella is famed for being Spain’s most glitzy holiday destination. And whilst many may know it for its championship golf courses, exclusive Puerto Banús marina, world-class luxury hotels and exquisite restaurants, Marbella is also a colourful hub of history and culture. There really is something for everyone in this stunning part of Spain’s Costa del Sol.
Puerto Banús Marina With superyachts adorning the marina and supercars rolling through the town, Puerto Banús is a popular playground for the rich and famous. Boasting a wide range of upmarket eateries, designer boutiques and stylish bars with terraces providing the perfect waterside ambience, this is the place to see and be seen. You’ll also find the famous Ocean Club and a buzzing nightlife with top spots, including Pangea and Olivia Valere.
Golden Mile The Paseo Maritimo is a 7km palm tree lined pedestrian beachside boulevard linking Marbella old town and Puerto Banús. After a few kilometers you’ll find yourself on the luxurious Golden Mile, featuring some of Europe’s most expensive and impressive properties. The Golden Mile boasts stunning mountain views, white sand beaches, luxury retail stores, exclusive beach clubs and the finest restaurants and bars, as well as leading hotels such as Marbella Club, Nobu Hotel and Puente Romano.
Casco Antiguo – Marbella Old Town With narrow winding cobblestone streets, quaint white-washed buildings covered with colourful bougainvillaea, charming shops and stylish eateries, the Casco Antiguo is an oasis of history and culture just waiting to be explored. Popular sites include the orange tree filled Plaza de los Naranjos, contemporary Spanish art museum Museo del Grabado, beautiful churches such as Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and the historic Plaza Altamirano with its old-world charm.
La Concha Mountain Concha translates to ‘shell’, and this aptly named mountain is an iconic Marbella landmark. Standing 1215 metres above sea level the ascent takes an average of 4 hours, but the breathtaking panoramic views of the Costa del Sol are a sight to behold and are well worth the effort.
Beautiful beaches Marbella’s many beaches boast golden sands, balmy crystal clear waters, water sports facilities and trendy beach bars. You may find that locals refer to the beaches by the bar, restaurant or beach club located there rather than the beach’s name, for example, Marbella Club rather than Nagüeles beach. Marbella also offers many Blue Flag beaches such as El Cable and Guadalmina. Other noteworthy names are Playa de Puerto Banus, Real de Zaragoza and Nueva Andalucía.
Trips and excursions If you are open to venturing further afield, some of Spain’s must-see sights are easy to reach and make excellent day trip destinations.

Granada and the Alhambra: A two-hour drive from Marbella you’ll find the stunning and culture rich city of Granada. Famous for its show-stopping Alhambra palace and fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as it's lively flamenco and tapas scene and fusion of architectural styles, Granada is a must-visit.
Yacht charter trips and watersports: As a famous yachting destination, it’s little surprise that Marbella offers premium motor yacht, sailing yacht and superyacht charter options.
