We are delighted to interview Andrew Lowson, Account Manager of Private Jets UK at Air Partner. We discussed his long career in aviation, a recent charter highlight and the real strength of Air Partner’s charter business.
Can you tell us about your role at Air Partner?
I’m one of the Private Jet Account Managers here at Air Partner. I joined the company 12 years ago, starting in the Operations department. After a year I found I was really enjoying the private jets side of the business. It was something that I hadn’t done before in my previous roles in aviation.
So, for the last 11 years, I’ve been in the Private Jets team. It’s a wonderful small team with a great team ethic and a hardworking ethos. Everyone’s willing to help and it’s a fantastic place to work.
What key industries do you serve?
One of the great things about working for a company like Air Partner is the wide variety of clients that we serve and have the pleasure of working with. It’s an interesting client base; we have a mixture of private individuals, families, and high-net-worth individuals, right through to corporates, non-government, and government organisations.
Basically, anyone who needs the charter to get from A to B, where maybe they couldn’t do the flight on a scheduled service, or people that chartered purely for the convenience and the more comfortable or luxurious elements of private jet travel.
Can you talk about a highlight charter that you and the team worked on?
One of the most interesting flights I’ve worked on recently was a request from a very large corporate client to fly board members from Tel Aviv, Israel to Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It was very time critical; they had to finish meetings in Israel and be at meetings in Georgia at a certain time. It was simply impossible to do with scheduled services so that’s where private jet charter becomes useful.
The result was that we got the clients to their destination about an hour and a half earlier than they had hoped. So, it was really satisfying to get positive feedback from the client.
What do you enjoy most about working in aviation?
Aviation and flying always have a certain appeal. We all like to look up when we hear a plane flying overhead. There’s something exciting about going to the airport knowing that you’re off somewhere potentially exotic.
Flying is exciting. It’s an interesting industry and I love working in it. I’ve had a 20-year career in aviation and continue to love every minute!
