With over 60 years of experience working with clients across a wide range of industries, Air Partner’s Group Charter team possesses the knowledge and capability to deliver exceptional group flight solutions, anywhere in the world.
It was a pleasure to sit down with Nicola Cooper, Team Leader for Group Charter UK. Throughout her 12 years at Air Partner, she has been critical in coordinating challenging global flight programmes for a diverse client base. Nicola shares valuable insights on where it all began, what she enjoys most about her role, and what motivates her to go above and beyond for her clients.
Can you tell us about your role at Air Partner?
I started at Air Partner in 2012 as a trainee after graduating with my master’s degree. I then progressed through Air Partner’s Academy, learning from well-respected peers in the industry, and worked my way up from Account Manager, to Senior Account Manager, then to Team Leader, today.
Which key industries do you serve?
Throughout my time at Air Partner, I’ve worked with clients across a range of industries, notably TV and film, conference and incentive, automotive and music. No day is the same, every client is unique and it’s interesting to tailor each flight to their individual needs, learning more about different industries with every charter. We work on everything from sports to weddings, so there really isn’t a request we haven’t already serviced!
How long have you worked in private aviation?
I’ve worked in private aviation for 12 years, specialising in Group Charter which includes anything from 20 passengers up to thousands at a time. I’ve loved the diversity and unique challenges that this presents.
What attracted you to a career in aviation?
My Father worked as a charter broker in the 1980s before becoming a Captain at a charter airline! I used to hear stories about his chartering days and thought “how fun”!
Working at Air Partner was a dream realised and I’ve had the pleasure to work on many diverse and prominent charters. There’s nothing quite like seeing an aircraft take off knowing you made that all happen! Or watching something on the TV, either a TV series or in the news, and knowing that you were part of achieving it.
What is your favourite aircraft and why?
There are only a few of them around now, but it is certainly the Boeing 757. From a performance point of view, it is incredibly capable for a large aircraft, even on short runways! Or, it would have to be one of the luxury long-haul airliners with all business class seats - those really give that wow factor when you step on board.
What do you enjoy most about working in aircraft charter?
The diversity of the role – no two days are the same and there’s always something new to learn, and I’m lucky to have worked with some fantastic individuals.
I’ve also been lucky enough to work on prominent charters in both the entertainment world and political charters including air evacuations, which I will remember for a lifetime.
During your time spent working in aviation, what changes have you seen within Air Partner?
I’ve seen Air Partner grow and progress into other countries and markets, enhanced by the acquisition of companies that are considered leaders in their field and offer something different.
What is the real strength of Air Partner?
The people. The commitment, dedication and knowledge of the entire team and their willingness to help and support one another, especially those new to the industry.
With 24 offices worldwide, the support and information we’re able to utilise as a team on a global scale is just incredible. Our 24-hour Operations department is a fount of knowledge, providing excellent support to our charter teams and customers.
What is your philosophy for delivering exceptional service to your customers?
Under-promise and over-deliver! I always do what I can to exceed our client’s expectations by listening to their needs to understand their concerns and main priorities. It’s important that we’re open and honest with our clients and suppliers to ensure our communication and relationships are strong, helping us deliver the best charter experiences.
Tell us about your first charter.
It was for an aircraft owner via a valued airline partner, taking their employees on a company incentive trip to Poland! It was a great first experience, as my customer knew a lot about charter and taught me a lot as well.
What advice do you have for companies looking to charter aircraft?
My advice is to use Air Partner as a resource in your planning stages. Across our team, we possess fantastic knowledge, experience and contacts. If you engage us in your initial planning stages, we might be able to suggest things you hadn’t considered that may enhance your trip or save you money!
