As we’ve all become accustomed to in recent months, ski resorts will have strict new restrictions in place to ensure everyone’s safety. Sweden
Sälen ski resort, north-west of Stockholm, is part of a group of interlinked ski areas, which together make one of the largest ski areas in Sweden. The network of tree-lined slopes offers complete versatility from riding lines for the complete beginners to more challenging terrain for the intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
The four ski areas that comprise Sälen skiing and snowboarding are, Kläppen which combines a 32km area of slopes including a big terrain park and a few black pistes, as well as plenty of beginner runs. Lindvallen is home to the best beginner zone in the area. It is also linked to a further area of gentle runs at Högfjället. Tandådalen and Hundfjället cover 45km of runs, making it the largest area is the link. Stöten offers great beginner hills and some steeper runs for a bit more of a challenge. All these areas are reachable via car and provide a great variety for all skiing abilities.
Åre is another great Swedish ski resort located in Northern Sweden. With 91km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding, all easily reachable via the 31 lifts. This popular resort hosts an annual World Cup skiing event, meaning the slopes here are always well-kept. From demanding and more challenging runs to beginner areas, Åre caters for all difficulty levels.
With plenty of activities to entertain you throughout your stay, Åre is popular with families too. From sledging to snowmobiling, and even an indoor water park, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained, both on and off the slopes.
Italy
When it comes to ski resort locations, then they don’t come much better than Courmayeur. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc and the head of the Aosta Valley, Courmayeur ski resort boasts an impressive scenery. Although Courmayeur offers a varied network of pistes, with some more relaxed and gentle slopes for beginners available, most of the 43km of slopes are suited to intermediates and advance skiers. The main attraction is the off-piste offerings, with some long descents available – an expert guide will take you to the best routes.
Alpe di Siusi offers 63km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding. The slopes extensive and varied range makes them perfect for beginners and intermediates and is all reachable via the 21 lifts. Alpe di Siusi has some of the most stunning vistas, and what it might lack in more challenging runs, it certainly makes up for with its breathtaking scenery. And when you fancy a change of activity, why not try out some cross-country skiing, snowshoe hiking or tobogganing, a great experience amongst some of the most picturesque surrounds.
Finland
Ruka is regarded as one of the best ski resorts in Finland with 35 slopes, 22 lifts and snow providing over 200 skiing days a year. The slopes offer complete versatility from riding lines for the complete novice skiers and snowboarders to sites that provide the enthusiasts and professionals skiers with some great challenges.
With plenty of activities to entertain you throughout your stay, Ruka is popular with families too. From husky safaris and reindeer sledge rides to searching for the iconic northern lights, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained.
