About Salt Lake City International Airport

Salt Lake City International Airport is Utah's primary airport, located just five miles northwest of downtown Salt Lake City, making it a convenient 10-minute drive.

An airfield was first established at the site in 1911. By 1920, it had become Woodward Field and handled United States Postal Service flights. In 1930, it was renamed Salt Lake City Municipal Airport, and a terminal and administration building were added in 1933. This was replaced in 1960 and then in 2020.

The current airport has only one central terminal with two concourses. The upgraded facilities include a parking garage, fast electric baggage for large items like sports equipment, a Delta Sky Club lounge, and around 60 shops and restaurants. You can also admire the Utah-themed artwork on display at the airport.

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is served by approximately 14 airlines, offering more than 700 nonstop flights each day. These flights connect Utah to over 90 destinations. Additionally, the airport accommodates private jet charter companies and some military operations.

The modern TRAX light rail can transport arrivals at Salt Lake City International Airport to downtown in only 20 minutes.

Deer Valley Highlights

Winter: Deer Valley is rapidly becoming one of North America’s biggest ski resorts, and many people flock here primarily for the slopes. The ski season typically runs from late November or early December until the middle of April, though, of course, it’s weather-dependent. At the end of the year, in particular, some runs may not yet be open.

In 2034, Deer Valley is set to be the venue for the Winter Olympic Games. The area is also used as a setting for the Intermountain Health Freestyle International Ski World Cup.

During winter, the area also offers other snow sports, such as snowshoeing, dog sledding, and snowmobiling.

Summer: The top summer activities in Deer Valley include hiking and mountain biking. Biking trails are spread across half a dozen mountains and stretch for almost 60 miles. You can join weekly twilight rides between mid-June and mid-August.

In summer, you can also take a scenic chairlift ride, dine on the deck with mountain views, or try out sports such as fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, rafting, or stand-up paddleboarding. Live music and concerts are also popular during the warmer months.

All seasons: At Deer Valley, you can shop to your heart's content at a variety of stylish stores offering fashion, homeware, gifts, sports equipment, and more. Dining out in style is popular throughout the year, and many enjoy stopping at local bars for a drink. Additionally, there is a mountain beer festival held here in mid-September.
