About Jackson Hole Airport
Jackson Hole Airport enjoys a stunning setting in Wyoming. It’s a small, sustainable, eco-friendly airport on just over 500 acres. The airport features low-rise wooden buildings and a mountainous backdrop.
Jackson Hole Airport is located nine miles from the center of Jackson and 20 miles from the mountain resort. It’s also situated within Grand Teton National Park and is the only US airport within a national park’s boundaries.
The airport’s history can be traced back to the 1930s when the Teton County site was decided upon. In 1950, the airport and national park merged. Noise restrictions have limited development at the site, and it remains a breeding ground for sage grouse birds.
In 2022, the airport closed temporarily to allow for rebuilding the restaurant and adding a couple of additional gates. The current terminal, which dates back to 2014, has an award-winning design. It has a limited 18-foot height and features fireplaces, exposed wood, and nature photography displays.
